After watching a lot of videos on YouTube, it was the impression that there is a lot of information out there about this subject, very little, if any, has just a small bit of scientific background. Just about all of it can be characterized as myth, hearsay, information handed down from previous generations with all the flaws that it may contain. Some may contain a ring of correctness from a technical point of view, but just as you get comfortable with that this person knows enough to teach others the subject, in this case guitar pickups or electronics, it takes a wrong turn and you roll your eyes. At this point, I assume you have read my background and why I am doing this. You should also know that I am pretty sure that the people doing this is not out there to spread misinformation, they are simply unaware of the fact that they just do not know enough to judge the information they have and what they are missing. There is no indication that there is any desire to convey something that is simply not the correct information. It appears that there is a lot of parroting going on here, a lot of bad information being repeated over and over, obviously without any form of actual documentation or any attempt to elaborate or discuss how the presented “fact” was reached. All being swept under the big ambiguous rug called “tone” in a way that I am beginning to dislike that word. The concept of “tone” is almost like you do not know what you are talking about and you cannot explain it because of lack of knowledge, you call it “tone”. As you can tell, I am not a fan of that word…
There are many other buzz words used in these videos, so beware!
I hope you will read the rest of the stuff on this website, everything is to the best of my knowledge correct and as you can tell, measured and documented by myself.
